It's a trick they use to try to catch an impostor. When you're playing the computer version you use the keys WASD to move and you can use E or the space bar to open tasks or vent. So if you spell out Fish Eat Food as a crewmate you would move down, left, then right. If you do it as an impostor you would move down then vent. Ludwig could tell that Jack didn't actually do it because he didn't move at all.
